NZ Wool in Deep Space?!

A company in Auckland has been making wool filters from the fleece of specially-bred Astino sheep for use in the Orion spacecraft’s emergency life-support system in case of fires on board. Apparently, the wool’s unique features make it perfect for this use.

The filters are currently under evaluation by NASA and Lanaco will know in about 6 months time if they will be chosen for the mission.
