What is Regenerative Organic?

Pure Advantage and the Edmund Hillary Fellowship have released a series of webisodes under the umbrella of ‘Our Regenerative Future’, looking at different aspects of Regen Farming, and they are well worth a look.

We’re jumping into number 7 in the series here to find out more about ‘Regenerative Organic’. What does it mean and how does it work? What problems does it pose and what advantages does it offer? The conversation includes Rodale in the U.S, who introduced a new high bar standard of agricultural certification in 2018 using a phased approach, and asks how it would apply to New Zealand.

Using the USDA certified organic standard (or its international equivalent) as a baseline requirement, Regenerative Organic Certification adds important criteria and builds off these and other standards in the areas of soil health and land management, animal welfare, and farmer and worker fairness.
