ODPG Webinar: Humates, Soil & Summer Crops

This year we are continuing our regular webinars on all sorts of farming topics as part of a programme provided to our members, allowing us to continue educating through Covid-19 restrictions.

INTRODUCTION

As winter has finally turned to spring and the last lambs and calves are born, farmers are planning ahead to the supplementary feeds required when plant growth slows again. Some areas prefer cropping maize, turnips, chicory and the like while others concentrate on preserving surplus grass for silage and hay.  It’s a never ending story and no one really knows what the weather has in store in the months ahead.

ODPG’s webinar ‘The Importance of Humates’ was very popular and we have asked Sam Uffindell from New Zealand Humates for a revisit. This time he will discuss how humates are a fantastic addition to the soil when summer crops are planted. We have also asked if he could do a comparison between humates and biochar. Both ingredients work within our organic principles but what is the difference?

We hope you can join us on Thursday 7th October at 7.30pm and share our discussion involving Humates.
