INTRODUCTION

ODPG is honoured to have Corinne Bataille – BoundarylessNZ (Social Science Research) – as one of our sponsors.

She recently completed her PhD investigating our ancestral connection with our environment documenting both Māori and land owner perspectives. During her four-year study she interviewed many people from the farm gate to the steps of parliament and everyone in between.

The goal of her research was to find out how kaitiakitanga (Māori environmental guardianship) might be supported to help reverse the decline of New Zealand’s native biodiversity.

Corinne developed a fresh understanding of the daily challenges we face here in New Zealand and has also achieved a deeper knowledge of how wetlands in her native France deserve more respect as part of the life force of the environment.

On Wednesday May 18th from 7.30pm Corinne will share her many hours of research with us. I invite members to tune in and congratulate Corinne for completing such a huge project that will benefit our future generations.
