Farmers Greg and Rachel Hart (ODPG members) are advocates of ‘Silvopasture‘ – an ancient method of forest grazing, which uses trees as partial canopy cover whilst grazing stock underneath. Not only does it help mitigate climate change with all the benefits that come from tree-planting, but it improves the welfare of grazing animals by providing shelter, and enables the farmer to earn money through the NZ Emissions Trading Scheme.
