…Women are prime shakers in driving changes in farm practice.
On November the 9th, the inspirational John King will be running an important ODPG Workshop on Holistic Planned Grazing. If you’re an Organic or Regenerative Farmer, get yourself booked in! (Details below)
In this week’s ‘Focus on John King’, he discusses a phenomenon he has noticed over many years of teaching regenerative farming methods in New Zealand and Australia : Women are a huge driving force in organic and regenerative agriculture, and sometimes make up 90% of his audience. But what are the reasons behind this?
“I alerted the farming industry to the phenomenon of women pioneering change in farming in mid 90s after researching how farming couples learned their way through changing circumstances. Learning in its widest sense as part of farm lifestyle corresponded with traditional gender roles and this is where big changes are happening.”

HOLISTIC PLANNED GRAZING WORKSHOP : NOV 9th – CAMBRIDGE, WAIKATO
If you don’t have a well-functioning soil surface you’ll invariably be spending money trying to fix it. On this course, we will look at the problems and opportunities you face with pastures, soils, water quality, weeds and pests, and how your farm would benefit if these were addressed. You’ll build an awareness of what to look for in the paddock, and how to relate your findings to landscape function.
