CONFERENCE UPDATE – 19 MARCH 2023:
The new conference location is the Hamilton area, WAIKATO.
Dates as before: April 19th + 20th
For more information and to book your place, visit our ticketing page.
Dates
WEDNESDAY 19 APRIL | CONFERENCE DAY
THURSDAY 20 APRIL | FIELD TRIP DAY
Venue
The ODPG committee recently made the difficult decision to change the location of the conference due to the devastating, ongoing effects of Cyclone Gabrielle on the Hawkes Bay region. It has become clear that to hold a large conference there would only add to the huge amount of stress the communities are already under.
The date will remain April 19th and 20th, but the location will change to the Waikato region.
Please look out for an announcement coming out with all the new details.
Conference Day
On Wednesday 19th April, we’re excited to be hosting six wonderful speakers:

DR CHRISTINE JONES | Renowned Soil Ecologist from Australia | – Presentation title to be confirmed |
DR ANDREW SMITH | C.O.O of The Rodale Institute in Pennsylvania* | – Presentation title to be confirmed |
MATT GALLAGHER | Organic Technical Manager at AsureQuality | Organic Certification |
JONO FREW | Founder of Quorum Sense and Natural Performance | – Farming Aligned with Nature for a Healthy & Resilient Future |
PHILIPPA JAMIESON | Eco-Writer & Editor, formerly of Organic NZ Magazine* | Meat and Milk: Fake Vs Real |
NIC CONLAND | Director and Co-Founder of Verdi | – Is My Pasture Hiding the Answer to Climate Resilience |
*(Dr Andrew Smith and Philippa Jamieson will attend via video conferencing)
We’ll be releasing the speakers’ bios over the next few weeks so you can read more about them.
Field Trip Day
After a day inside, we’ll be heading out and about to visit two field trip venues chosen from amongst the organic and regenerative farms and businesses in the region.

Join the ODPG Executive Committee
We are holding our Annual General Meeting during the 2023 Conference. Ahead of the meeting, the Organic Dairy & Pastoral Group of NZ would like to invite those interested to join our executive committee and help guide and support the organisation through the next three years. We are a farmer run identity and, as of April 2023, will find ourselves in the position of requiring four new executive committee members. Currently several ODPG committee members have contributed a year longer than expected and will be stepping down. As a group we acknowledge how important it is for us to continue importing new people with fresh ideas so as to retain our strong leadership in NZ’s organic community. If you can spend one evening a month to attend zoom committee meetings and would enjoy contributing to the group’s national annual conference we would love to have you on our team. You are not required to be an organically certified producer but you will be required to enthusiastically nurture methods and techniques that enhance the future of organic/biological/regenerative agriculture. Please look at this as your opportunity to be involved in the transformation of New Zealand’s agriculture.
HOW TO APPLY
Please write to odpg22@gmail.com (or fill out the form below) with a short introduction if you’re interested, or if you have any questions. Alternatively, the current committee would be happy to discuss things further with you and you may be familiar with some of them. Their contact details can be found on our website.
