Paramagnetism and Soil Health: ODPG 2021 Conference

On March 21st and 22nd, we’ll be at Waitawheta Camp in Waihi to hold ‘Physics in Agriculture’, our 2021 Conference and AGM with five speaker and two farm field-trips. FIND OUT MORE HERE.

Amongst our list of conference topics is the concept of PARAMAGNETISM, and we’ll be examining Phil Callahan’s work with Steve Erickson of Chaos Springs, both at the camp and on Steve’s farm.

Callahan’s research led to the conclusion that the healthiest agricultural soils are paramagnetic; this paramagnetism facilitates the flow of electromagnetic forces from the atmosphere to organic plant materials. In soils where this paramagnetic force has been eroded away, adding ground volcanic basalt can reestablish the balance necessary for increased biological activity and the resulting plant growth.
